Taking the Eyes Off Oneself

When I was a teenager, and into my early twenties, when I was down about life, my Mum would remind me of how much happier I feel when I am doing something for others. When my daily activities are spotted with doing for others, the day was lighter, and had much greater meaning.

In those moments my Mum was teaching me to take my eyes off of myself. Oh what a wonderful pity party most of us could have! Actually all of us could have a pity party! No matter how much money you have, or how beautiful you are, life is going to deal you challenges. The comparison game creates competitiveness and hardness. Of course there are others out there who have more of this, and less of that, so catch yourself at the beginning of that self talk.
